Hi, I have just joined the forum having accidentally become a fan of the Baleno.
I needed a "temporary" car as a gap fill whilst various other vehicles demised or were rebuilt. My main line in DIY mechanics and repair is on Landrovers but having taken ownership of my Baleno 1.8 GSR (02) I have become quite fond of it.
It's not pristine, but it is fun to drive and surprisingly spacious (6'2" large frame requires good accommodation!)
It needed a new wing which I was able to find from a breaker in Doncaster (I am in Cheshire) from the same colour and model, so that is fixed.
Needs a little TLC for MOT so new brakes, filters, oil and general service items are waiting in the wings, soon to be fitted now the weather is better again.
I look forward to being encouraged by your site to spend a little more tim eon the silver machine, and do not anticipate it being temporary any more!
Chris

I'm an accidental Baleno fan as well. Wanted a cheap as chips runabout after selling an expensive old 1968 Jag. I love the car - it's easy, zippy, and reliable. It's definitely growing on me.

Haha, I think everyone is an accidental Baleno fan! I got mine because I needed a new car. Didn't realise just how good it is until really driving it! I can't see myself getting a new car anytime soon!

Nope, first! But I'd had my licence about 8months. And I was 20 when I first got it. Was actually the cheapest car I got quoted on, and that includes things like micras

must be a baleno thing lmao, i was looking for a new car after a lorry took my s reg swift out on a greasy roundabout!, picked up an autotrader mag and went to look at a saxo vtr but too pricey so kept lookin through then found a black gsr with one of those electric roofs that fold all the way back for £1395 locally, went to view n bought her the same day i didnt even test drive but when i sat in it it just like the right car for me. really gutted i wrote her off but she was repairable but i didnt have the money too do it so went through the insurance got paid out then last year used a site to see if it was still goin and she is, i havnt a clue where it is but would love it back, my second moddded one was because id caught the baleno bug!
